Profiles in Paper and Stone

DSC_0925

Portraiture

Blissful is the frog
who gambols from camouflage
into the cool stream

the moment the pen
slips from a blank page, her hand
abandoning those

letters that conjure
amphibians in half-done
notebooks, releasing

this polliwog from the fate
of penmanship into wet
rocks and aging leaves.
